CUSTOM LETTERING TATTOOS

BY ROT_PRIEST

Flowing scripts. Power words. Names that mean something.

Why Custom Lettering?

Most lettering tattoos look the same. That's because most artists use fonts and trace what already exists. I don’t copy. I create.

Most of my work is drawn freehand, directly on your skin.

I let the word flow with your body. I build movement, meaning and emotion.

Sometimes I’ll sketch a stencil of precision demands it. But even then, the design is 100% custom. matched to your body and your word.

Whether it’s a name, mantra, lyric or power phrase…

Your word gets its own identity.

The Power of Words

Words stay with you. Some are said to you. Some you whisper to yourself. Some you need to carry; on your skin.

Clients come to me for words that:

-Honor someone they’ve lost.

-Remind them of who they really are.

-Set a boundary.

-Express a spiritual truth.

-Sound like a spell, a prayer, or a promise.

A word tattoo isn’t just only about what it says. It’s also about how it’s written. The shape of the letters is part of the spell.

My Style & Process

I don’t use fonts. I build letters.

Here’s how I work:

-Freehand cursive script in my signature style. Ultra-thin lines, smooth curves, flowing like breath.

-Custom gothic lettering. bold, sharp, powerful. Designed for names, dates, and darker phrases.

-Calligraphy lettering tattoos. balanced, elegant, timeless. Drawn for impact, not decoration.

Every piece is sketched or drawn to fit your body. no cookie-cutter placements. Sometimes I draw it straight onto your skin. Other times I sketch digitally or use a stencil when precision matters.

But the design is always custom. shaped by the word, your energy, and the meaning behind it.

I don’t match your body to the letters. I let the lettering grow out of your form.

Examples of Lettering with Meaning

"Love" – freehand above the eyebrow

Delicate but strong. Done in the thinnest needle, soft curves flowing into flourishes. The placement makes it both visible and vulnerable — just like love itself.

"Vasiliki" – inner arm

The name of a best friend who stood by her through everything. The font feels stable and proud — almost like a monument.

"Rise" – across ribs

Designed like a wave lifting upward. The client said it reminded them to breathe and keep going.

Who It’s For

This is for people who know their words have power.

You don’t want generic. You want soul.

If you want a phrase that feels like you — not like Pinterest — then you’re in the right place.

People also ask

Is it okay to get someone’s name tattooed?

That depends on why. If it’s about ownership or impulse, think twice.

But if it’s about honoring someone, for example someone who shaped who you are, then yes. A name can be a memorial, a promise, or a source of strength. I’ve tattooed names of lost lovers, best friends, grandmothers, and even unborn children. What matters is the meaning. If it’s real, it belongs.

Ink can fade. But the reason behind it shouldn’t.

What if I don’t know what style I want?

That’s okay. You don’t need to know fonts. What’s important is that you need know the feeling. Tell me your word, your story, and how it’s supposed to feel. I’ll shape it around that. Soft, sharp, elegant, violent, sacred, whatever the word needs.

You bring the meaning. I’ll bring the form.
